Venice, the Rialto Bridge closes
VENICE. Closed (partially) for restoration. The Rialto Bridge, one of the symbols of Venice, will be off limits to the pedestrian traffic on one ramp and on part of the famous central staircase, unmissable photographic venue for those visiting Venice. The scaffolding that will be needed for the important bridge restoration works have been erected.
A 3.2 million Euro project founded by entrepreneur Renzo Rosso, patron of the "Only the Brave" company, and the Diesel boss. The works will start in June, and will be completed by the end of 2016. Many the interventions planned during the Bridge make-up activities. But no intervention will be carried out on the static structure, which appears in excellent conditions in spite of the fact that it is over 400 years since its architect Antonio Da Ponte and his workmen completed the work of art in 1591.
The Rialto restoration site will be there right during the months of Expo Milan 2015, which will have a satellite unit also in Venice, at the Aquae Hall, specifically focusing on water. In Venice, it could not be any different.
